There are many things to consider when you hire a security surveillance company. From experience to the portfolio, everything matters. But if you can ensure that the surveillance company has these five attributes, then you are in safe hands.
- Does the surveillance company offer real time surveillance? There are many companies that deal with surveillance equipments and also conduct the surveillance but are more reactive than proactive. You can have all the cameras and systems you want but they are all futile if no one is watching the footage or recording the feeds and reacting immediately. You can always go back to the footage but that is an autopsy, not preventing the crime or ensuring your security. You need a real time surveillance company.
- Can the surveillance company conduct remote surveillance? Many companies want their security personnel at the site. This may not be possible for every business. Also, you as the business owner or as the head of security of your company may want remote surveillance so you can play a role. You must be able to view the footage or feeds from wherever you want. It could be desktops or laptops, special monitors or just apps on mobile phones. Your surveillance company must offer remote real time surveillance.
- A surveillance company shouldn’t just record and monitor security measures but must also have an active response system. There could be alarms and the law enforcement authorities must be alerted but ask your surveillance company what measures they can take to prevent the crime or to reduce the impact or reach of the crime.
- Check out the infrastructure of the surveillance company. What kind of cameras they use, do they have motion sensors, door and wireless window alarms, specific apparatus to prevent glass breakage or shattering and other systems that can set off alarms notifying suspicious movement or unauthorized access. From tangible to digital security measures, your surveillance company should have the infrastructure to keep you and your assets secured.
- Finally, assess the manpower. There should be enough people allotted to your surveillance and the people must be trained and experienced.
